Young Artist, Charlotte Gervis, Donates to PAL Ottawa

Charlotte Gervis, based in London, England, is the granddaughter of Sandy Mackay-Smith, Chair of the PAL Place Campaign. From a young age, Charlotte has shown a deep love for art—whether through drawing or creating playful sculptures—and has further pursued this passion through fine arts courses. Her interest has been encouraged by her entire family, especially her father.

At just 11 years old, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Charlotte entered one of her paintings in the Philip Mould and Bourlet Young Masters Art Contest in the UK—and won first prize. The contest raised $5,000 for a hospital and nurse's charity, and Charlotte’s winning piece was professionally framed and displayed in the Philip Mould Gallery in London for several months. A remarkable start for a young artist!
Earlier this year, inspired by her grandfather, Charlotte launched a charitable project to support senior artists through PAL Ottawa. She began selling high-quality prints of her artwork, with all proceeds (after printing and delivery costs) going directly to PAL Ottawa. Her grandfather was deeply touched by her initiative.
Ten prints are still available, featuring six of Charlotte’s original pieces (seen below). Each print is $300 CAD, including delivery. If you’d like to support her project, you can contact Charlotte directly at c.gervis27@gmail.com.
So far, Charlotte has donated $1,200 to PAL Ottawa. Thanks to Hobin Architecture’s You Give, We Give matching campaign, her contribution will be doubled—bringing the total to $2,400 in support of senior artists.
We are deeply grateful to Charlotte for her generosity and creativity. A young artist supporting older artists—what a beautiful connection across generations.
